As if that day wasn't enough fun, we went over to buddy, Cameron's new house. Daddy spent the morning helping his parents move. That night after the birthday party, we headed over to their house for a pizza party. Mia and Cameron are real tight and so we thought it would be fun for his little sister, Emelia (6 months) to get to know Ben. The kids had a ton of fun because Cameron's dad set up a moon bouncer. Mia kept telling me that she was jumping in the "Party Moon". She was so bouncy that she taught all the other kids to fly out the side flap (not too sure if the parents were all happy with that but the kids LOVED it!). Ben enjoyed meeting a few of the younger ladies who were also in baby bjorn carriers. They stared at each other and kicked a while. Who says, infants can't have any fun?
The Annual Woodmoor 4th of July Parade was the next morning and we were sure to make an appearance. We joined Vivian and her entourage (family in town for her b-day) and headed to the park. Mia had another great lollipop and enjoyed the ride while Ben slept through it all.
After the parade, we went to a BB-Q with friends, Adam and Katie. Katie's parents were having a bunch of family and friends over with little kids so it was natural for them to invite us. Mia had fun playing in the creek. Even though we did bring her swim suit, within minutes she was whisked away by Katie's Aunt Vicky, who took good care in making sure Mia's clothes didn't get wet (along with the other kids). See below- they all look like a bunch of rug rats. Mia had so much fun running through the creek. We thought this was going to be her favorite part but there was so much more to do...
Running through a huge lawn with sprinklers is always fun...
Riding a battery operated four wheeler, eating cookies and ice cream and throwing bean bags is fun too...
Oh boy, Aunt Vicky is wild and crazy and she dragged Mia back to the creek. They had so much fun racing alllllllll the way down there! Then she found a frog and put it in Mia's hands! What fun she was! Ben enjoyed being the youngest person at the party and everyone oohed and ahhed at how cute he is. He had fun watching all the kids run around and got a few good naps in throughout the day.

Needless to say, we all were a little tuckered out so we went home for a good night's sleep. The next day we went to a National's game against the Braves and we actually won. Ben loved looking around the ballpark and Mia is starting to understand how baseball works. She now correctly identifies baseball players in the newspaper and on tv. Even though it was during nap time and we had an exhausting weekend behind us, it was worth it to see Mia watch the fireworks at the end.
After a nap in the car on the way home, Mia still had enough energy to make muffins for Daddy's work meeting the next day.
Other things that happened this week:
It's official: Ben digs the pool...well, kind of. Daddy gave Ben a chance to get his feet wet and while he didn't mind the chilly baby pool temperature, he certainly preferred to sit on one of our laps and people watch.
Daddy gave Ben some surfing lessons and he proved to be quite a pro- good thing the tide was low!
Mia enjoys picnicking at the pool and throwing her head under the outdoor shower. She is also practicing her bubble blowing (in the cup). Now if we could just get her to blow bubbles in the actual pool- we'd have progress! One thing she LOVES is to take a shower in the women's locker room like the big girls. She tells mommy where to leave the soap and shampoo, where to hang her towel and then tells her, "Mommy, get out, I want to shower like a big girl!". So Mommy just sits off to the side and helps out occasionally with shampoo-ing and rinsing. Then we head home ready for bed.
People watching is SO much fun!
Next week we look forward to Aunt Kari's visit!
