We've been having a lot of fun at the pool. Daddy is trying to help Mia learn how to kick but she's more interested in sticking her head in the shower next to the pool. Ben took his first "dip" the other day. Daddy stuck Ben's feet in the baby pool and he didn't like it one bit. Maybe the water was bit cold. Ben mostly likes to watch us at the pool and take a nap.
Mia is excited that our next door neighbor, Vivian, is finally 1 year old- which means that we can now have "real" play dates (aka: Mia sets something up or puts something together and Vivian knocks it down or messes it up). This is all good practice for when Ben starts crawling!
So far one of Ben's favorite people is Mia. Every time she walks into the room, he smiles and starts babbling. Mia is pretty fond of her little bro as well, and insists on kissing his forehead just about every hour!
Mia news:
Mia is totally into playing with her baby dolls. Mommy and Ben will sit on the porch swing and watch Mia give her babies stroller walks up and down the walkway. Then the babies sit on the swing with us and take naps. The little baby has been named "Sucky Rock-a-by baby" and the larger baby is "Kashka".
She's started having some nightmares, we think. She wakes up crying and scared and has made us "give" all of her stuffed animals to Ben. Apparently they "hug" her while she is trying to sleep and that is not cool. We think she is correct and have taken them to Ben's room. Yikes.
She also has been saying some funny things like:
"Mommy, can I bump knuckles with Ben?"
"What's that noise? The rocket ship is waking up!"
We have also had a major breakthrough in Mia letting Mommy do her hair with pony/piggy tails. See below for how it looks when she takes them out. Oh yeah, the top pic (below) is another Mia photo original -- she sure does know how to make her Daddy look handsome!
Ben news: As seen below, Ben is totally a ladies man. Mia and I sure had a good time during our photo shoot. All three of our models were cooperative and incredibly photogenic. Mia took the profile picture of Kashka and Ben which turned out to be both cool and creepy.
Everywhere we go, Ben smiles and talks to people and naturally they all think he's pretty cute. So we've nicknamed him "Mr. Smiles". The cashier at Target told Mommy that he should model for Abercrombie when he gets older because he has a model face. We'll see about that...
Ben is laughing a whole lot more especially when he gets bounced on the swing or in our laps. It's just about time to bring out the jungle bouncer... or to get a trampoline!
We are looking forward to a fun 4th of July weekend and a visit from Aunt Kari next week. :)
