Our Generation Vol. 1 No. 8 Grandma and Grandpa Brown

Grandma and Grandpa Brown came to visit us and we sure had a great time with them. Mia really enjoyed having Grandma read stories to her, help her with puzzles and with her play-doh fun factory. Ben also enjoyed being held, talked to and rocked by Grandma and Grandpa. Daddy was glad to have the company and help as mommy had to go back to work for the last week and a half of school.


The theme of the week was "Spend time with the grandkids". But if there was secondary theme, it was "spend time at Woodside Deli". They have a hot roast beef sandwich, corned beef hash, and s--t on a shingle on the menu. At reasonable prices. This was enough to require at least three visits for Grandpa. Luckily it's our favorite place too.

As FONZ members, heading to the zoo is easy and fun an now, cheap. So we went again with Grandma and Grandpa. The highlight of the trip was the soft serve ice cream. Everyone got REALLY dirty. You'd think after living in AZ for 25 years they'd know how to eat ice cream fast. It was fun.

The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center was one place we've been wanting to visit for a while now. We drove out to Dulles Airport to check it out and we all pleasantly surprised at how awesome it is. The Enola Gay was quite impressive as was the Concord, Excaliber and space shuttle Enterprise. We saw some Russian migs, Wright Brother's model planes, helicopters and every type of plane from a glider to a supersonic jet. The best part about it was that it really wasn't too crowded so we felt like we had the place to ourselves.



We all enjoyed just hanging out on the porch, deck, or just about anywhere. Benjamin got some extra attention when he sat on the table in his Bumbo chair. As you can see, the family couldn't resisit loving on him and he hammed it up right back.

Grandma and Grandpa accompanied us to our first trip of the season to our neighborhood pool. We had beautiful weather and a lovely time. Mia felt right at home in the water (even though mommy thought it was a bit cold). Benjamin slept through most of his visit and enjoyed being held by Grandma.




For our last little outing of the week, the Grandarents and Ben and Daddy headed to Great Falls. This place rules. Easy to get to, beautiful and a ton of cool walks and different vantage points and things to see. Awsome falls, Blue Heron catching fish, awesome rock formations, and crazy kayakers and rock climbers. The terrain was bit rough for stroller walking, but it sure is beautiful. For those of you heading this way soon, remind us to take you to this place.

We said goodbye to the Browns and later that evening Mommy ended her school year with a fun work party for all the teachers. Daddy, Mia and Ben crashed the party and Mia loved playing in the toy kitchen (hint, hint, Santa Claus). Ben had his first play date with mommy's boss' son, Desmond (one week younger than Ben). They liked oohing and aahing and occasionally punched each other in the face. After that, we went to another party down the street for all the neighborhood kids to celebrate the first day of summer. The house was equipped with a "screen on the green" movie theater in the backyard. Mia had a great time dancing to the good music and eating sweets and we watched Space Chimps- well we watched just a few minutes of it then had to go home for bedtime.
